Questions
How far are the ski resorts from Salt Lake City airport?
Snowbird is 29 miles and Alta 32 miles from the airport, about 40–45 minutes in good conditions. Solitude is 34 miles, Park City Mountain about 35–50 minutes via I-80, Deer Valley 38 miles, and Snowbasin 47 miles. Storms and canyon closures can add hours to the Cottonwood resorts.
Do I need a car to ski from Salt Lake City?
Not always. Shared shuttles run from the airport to Alta, Snowbird and Park City, and UTA ski buses serve the Cottonwood canyons, Snowbasin, Powder Mountain and Sundance from Dec 6, 2026. Park City’s town buses are free. Big Cottonwood, Ogden Valley and Sundance are much easier with a car.

No. Alta and Deer Valley are skiers only. Every other Utah resort allows snowboards.
